The maximum number mailboxes is dependant on several issues:

  • Are more than 50% of the users in the same TimeZone?  A large company or national based ISP will cover multiple time zones.
  • Will all users be connecting to the SpammerTrap to set up individual whitelists or blacklists?  With an ISP, this would be yes, but a big company might be no.
  • Will the same SpammerTrap be used to filter inbound and outbound email?
  • Are there multiple SpammerTraps in a load balanced cluster?
  • Will mail quarantine be deleted after 7 days or less?
  • How much quarantine space will they be using.
  • Will all the users be using the advanced features?
  • If the company has multiple domains, are they all 'aliases' of each other?  Is This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it the same as This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ?
  • Will the company be using a secondary anti-virus scanner or be using the one built into the SpammerTrap?
  • Clustering in SME+ models can add 9*9 (9 nodes in a cluster, 9 clusters in a group) for 4MM mailboxes max for Clustered GEM-25000s

If additional mail quarantine space is needed, either for compliance reasons or other, additional storage space can be purchased or quarantine messages can be stored on a remote quarantine drive such as on a SAS, or NAS.

Generally speaking, the maximum number of mailboxes supported by a particular SpammerTrap will be at least what is listed below. Additional mailboxes may be able to be supported with some configuration tweaks but it is recommended to upgrade the SpammerTrap or buy an additional node in a load balanced cluster.
