Email Security, Privacy Concerns Raised

New Entries to Smartphone Market Add to Email Security and Privacy Concerns

Boca Raton, Fla., August 10, 2010 – For better or worse, traditional computer manufacturers are entering the smartphone market, HP through its Palm acquisition, Dell with Streak. Even Microsoft is rattling the smartphone saber.

It’s scary when you consider their track records in security, especially for data-in-motion. Will they plug the same security options into their smartphones that they’ve used (with questionable success) in their PCs and laptops? Do they have email encryption solutions—that actually work?

It’s an important question, because there’s so much corporate and personal information flying around unsecured, sent by busy people using multiple devices. For mobile users, it’s all about speed and convenience, which means their security solutions have to be advanced and transparent.

Easier said than done. Citigroup recently announced security flaws in its iPhone mobile banking application, adding to a growing number of vulnerable apps and smartphone security issues. An article at techcrunch.com estimates the smartphone market will surge from 100 million users today to nearly one billion users by 2013. That’s a quantum leap in smartphone use, including email, and an almost unprecedented opportunity for cybercriminals.

This dynamic environment virtually screams for email encryption that totally nails smartphone security, in addition to laptop and PC email security and privacy. Florida-based SECNAP Network Security has seen it coming for close to a year.

“We have broken through the smartphone security barrier,” said Michael Scheidell, SECNAP founder and chief technology officer. “Our breakthrough solution, Rule18, delivers seamless email encryption across the universe of mobile devices. It’ll silence the scream.”

According to SECNAP, email users regularly share confidential information over highly risky channels, and most demand ease of use and access, even if it means sacrificing email privacy and security. The hottest entry to the smartphone security market, Rule18 allows users to have their email both ways—easy and fast, secure and private. Stay tuned.
