Company Becomes Certified SNORT IntegratorPartnership Further Strengthens Bulwark of Defense against CybercrimeBoca Raton, Fla. – March 13, 2008 – SECNAP® Network Security Corporation announced it has enhanced its relationship with Sourcefire®, the creator of Snort® and an open source innovator and leader in Enterprise Threat Management solutions. SECNAP has become a Certified Snort Integrator licensed to distribute Snort rules in its commercial offerings, which include the HackerTrapTM patent-pending Intrusion Detection and Prevention System that is the cornerstone of SECNAP’s managed network security solution. Since 2001, SECNAP engineers have incorporated Snort rules and signatures into HackerTrap along with those from other sources, including a proprietary SECNAP library of signatures, in addition to adding ongoing enhancements and updates. As a result, network and IT managers can experience dramatic increases in detection accuracy and prevention effectiveness, and organizations subject to regulatory legislation such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) and Sarbanes-Oxley can substantially improve their compliance capabilities. With demonstrated ability to deliver on these requirements as well as seamlessly integrate with Microsoft, Linux, Macintosh and other operating systems, the HackerTrap solution is raising the standard for network security in an age when millions of Americans have been victimized by the compromise or theft of personal data. Security breaches have far-reaching impacts, ranging from remediation costs and damages payable to victims,to the inestimable toll of negative publicity and lost business. In fact, the Federal Bureau of Investigation estimates that cybercrime is responsible for some $120 million in damages annually, with only nine percent even reported—placing total damages at a staggering $1.33 billion annually. "Clearly, the problem of unauthorized intrusion is rampant and expensive," said Michael Scheidell, chief technology officer for SECNAP. "We are proud to continue our relationship with the innovators at Sourcefire, because it's companies like these that help strengthen the bulwark of defense against cybercrime. As the Sourcefire Vulnerability Research Team works to discover and respond to new trends in intrusion vulnerabilities, we regularly share our own findings to ensure that SECNAP clients continue to benefit from the very latest advances in network security."
