Configure SpammerTrap as Smart Host or SMTP Relay |
|
|
OverviewThe SpammerTrap has the ability to filter inbound as well as outbound email at the same time. Outbound email will be checked for spam and viruses as inbound email would, but the rules sets are less restrictive. In the default configuration, if SpammerTrap detects an outbound spam or virus, the administrative contact will receive an immediate email notification. This can be disabled from the Advanced Configuration screen if desired. In most cases, no additional modification or changes need to be made to the SpammerTrap to start filtering outbound email. To verify: Log into your SpammerTrap as the site administrator and navigate to Configuration->Email Routing. Double Click on the domain(s) you wish to verify. On the General Tab, ensure "Allow Outbound" is checked. One the Outbound Relay tab, ensure that the server you wish to use to relay email through the SpammerTrap is listed. By default, the server you configured the SpammerTrap to send inbound email to is automatically added. All of the other changes will be in your internal mail server. Please see below for instructions pertaining to your particular mail server. If you experience problems or your mail server is not listed, please refer to your vendor's documentation for instructions on enabling a relay host.
