Overview

For SpammerTrap customers who do not have premium support contracts, or those who prefer to monitor their SpammerTraps internally, all current SpammerTrap models support remote Health Check Monitoring with SNMP and various network support.  We are pleased to provide the following instructions to assist you in taking advantage of this convenience, as well as instructions for purchasing premium support if you prefer to have SECNAP monitor on your behalf.

 

To Enable SNMP and Remote Health Check Monitoring

Log in to your SpammerTrap as the site administrator. Navigate to Networking page, select SNMP tab and enter a desired community string and the hosts which are permitted to query the SpammerTrap using that string. Note: SECNAP recommends using a community string that is not easily guessed.

In your Health Check Monitoring system, configure a new host to monitor using the information in the chart below.  The SNMP setups are known to work with OpManager and Nagios but should also work with any software suite that supports custom OID queries.  For assistance configuring this, refer to your vendor documentation.

In addition to the SNMP queries in the chart above, SpammerTrap runs several network services that can be queried using the built-in tools of your chosen Health Check Monitoring service.  The services that can be queried are HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, and SNMP.  The system will also respond to pings to measure uptime.

To Request That We Monitor For You

SECNAP can perform Health Check Monitoring for you, and resolve errors on your behalf or notify you when any error is detected.  This service is included free for all customers with premium support contracts and those with current support subscriptions for models ENT-1000, ENT-2500, ENT-5000, GEM-10000 and GEM-25000.
